Should you go Rechargeable?
A rechargeable hearing aid uses a sealed lithium ion cell instead of the little zinc air batteries. You put the pair in a charger overnight and take them out in the morning with a full day of power.
For most buyers this is the easier life. There are no tiny doors to open, no batteries to buy, and nothing to fumble with when a battery dies mid conversation. It also seals the device better against moisture, because there is no battery door leaving a gap.
Two things to weigh. A rechargeable device cannot be revived with a spare battery if you forget to charge it, so a long day away from a charger needs a little planning. And the cell ages: after several years its capacity drops, and replacing it is a service job rather than something you do at home.
Questions buyers ask us
A full day of typical use, with heavy streaming shortening it. Every charger also gives a fast top up that buys several hours from a few minutes on the dock.
How we narrow it down
Three things decide the right hearing aid, in this order. It is the same order these filters follow.
01
Your hearing loss
Your audiogram decides the device type, before anything else does.
02
Your lifestyle
Where you actually listen decides which features earn their price.
03
Your budget
We show three honest picks, then you choose. No upselling.
