What In the ear hearing aids give you
In the ear hearing aids are moulded from an impression of your own ear, so the shell fits only you. Nothing sits behind the ear and there is no wire, which makes them a favourite for glasses wearers and for anyone who dislikes the feeling of something resting on top of the ear.
They come in sizes. A full shell ITE fills the outer ear and holds the largest battery and the most controls. An ITC sits lower in the canal and shows less. Both are easier to handle than the invisible sizes, simply because there is more device to hold.
The limits are physics. A custom shell has less room for a large receiver, so very severe losses are usually better served by a receiver in canal or behind the ear model, and the smallest shells cannot fit every feature.
